1. When David Faber spoke, it sounded really similar to what he had put in the book with a few changes. But he said it differently, I don't know if it's more emotion or what, but the way he said it, you can't put it down on paper. I'm not ashamed to say, I cried.
2. I think the interaction with the Russian partisans was a stroke of luck for David. If he hadn't run into them, he might have gotten lost and ran into another Nazi person, but instead, he ended up with them getting well fed. Even when they all died, he was still lucky and ran into a girl who agreed to take him home to Tarnow. And when he got back and told his tale, I think his brother was proud of him because he was fighting against the Nazi's and protecting people just like he was.
3. I think that the Gestapo threw David back to the ghetto because he had been told that Romek only had stolen the blue papers, And the Gestapo decided that he was too young to know anything. Another possibility is that the Gestapo might have thought he was too young or physically lacking to pull off a task like the one his brother must have. My last idea was that the Gestapo had just gotten bored of interrogating and figured that he had nothing to do with the sabotage Romek was involved in, and just threw him back out on the streets.
