1. I've learned that the Nazi's didn't have any particular way they liked to kill people (I thought they favored the gas chambers overall). I learned that they did not kill people quickly, they killed them slowly and painfully. I believe the worst way they killed them was letting them starve, since they gave them little or no food, according to the back of the book (it said he weighed 72 pounds at age 18. Ouch.)
2.
a. David's family is a very kind family, who favors peace and is commonly willing to help out strangers who need help. They look out for one another and all love and are thankful for each other.
b. I'm not surprised David remembers every last detail of the book because I would too, if my world was suddenly turned upside down, my family on the run, and watching almost all of them killed (courtesy of the subtitles from the pictures). Even someone with a bad memory would probably remember the deaths of their family members and their own near-death experience, not to mention having the luck of being able to avoid death from the Nazis over a 5 year period of time.
3. It shows that he is brave, and willing to take enormous risks just to make sure that his family is alright. David is obviously a very smart, daring, caring, and lucky guy and it was because he had those traits that he managed to survive the holocaust.
