1. "For the rest of your lives… never, ever, allow a group's will to usurp your individual rights." I think that Mr. Ross was refering to mob psycology, and how it really can make you yourself usurp your own individual rights. This happens a lot in today's society. For example, people harass other people. But you will rarely see one person only harassing another. People join in groups to harass because deep down they're worried about what will happen to them if they don't go along with it.
2. I think Robert was a fairly interesting character. He changes because The Wave gave him power and so he easily fell into the communist grip of The Wave. I think people will start treating him better though, even after The Wave is gone. The Wave had many positive effects on Robert, but it had to end, which is why it was so bad. I think he will become a better person, though, because he now realizes how he can do that.
3.
a. I see that they were fascist because they would try to hurt those who didn't join The Wave. Laurie actually resisted and they did hurt her. But she wasn't the only example. There was also a member of The Wave who yelled out "There is no leader is there!" and they had him dragged out of the auditorium.
b. Iraq was fascist when Sadaam Whosame was in power. If anyone tried to doubt him, he bombed them with their family.
4. “Avoiding Mob Mentality: A Practical Guide by A Middle Student, for Other Middle School Students.” Basically you just have to keep your mind open and have a very unbiased view. If you see something happening that you think is wrong, You need to step in. From experience, I know that isn't easy. But if you step in, you'll be doing the right thing.
