Wave OP #3

1. I think the wave is going out of control for two reasons:

reason a: Robert. Robert's personallity changed drastically because of the wave. It's sort of a chain of events. First, Robert started out good by having good posture and being praised by Mr. Ross. Second, Robert realizes that The Wave is a chance to gain popularity and starts doing better in his classes from his sudden gain in confidence. Third, Robert starts to almost take charge of the wave and get a sense of power. And the unseen fourth step, is that he goes to college, The Wave becomes only a memory, and he's stuck in the world, not knowing how to survive. Therefore, The Wave has a great chance of ruining his life.

reason b: The pep rally. The members of The Wave were sitcking up posters, banners, and giving out flyers for the pep rally at the football field. But at the pep rally they were supposed to indoctrine two-hundred new members for The Wave. At that point, it's not a game anymore, It's not an experiment any more, it's a community. And The Wave is a community being led unknowingly into communism.

2. "What I mean is" Robert said nervously "the whole idea of The Wave is that the people in it have to support it. If we're really a community we all have to agree." This is the quote that stood out most for me. It didn't stand out for me because I like it though. It stood out because it bothered me. They all have to agree they have to be the same to be equal. But is equal good? All communities have leaders, otherwise their just a gang, a group. So far, Mr. Ross is the leader. They all look up to him. So if he's in power and The Wave is equal he fills in the role of dictatorship. A community where everyone is equal except for the dictator so the dictator can make desicions for the community. There's a word for that. It's called communism.

3. How far will the wave go?

1.) your reasons for the wave becoming unstoppable are good but I don not understand what you mean by robert going off to college and the wave becomes a memory. So if you could be a litle more clear that would be great.

3.)The Wave might only last a couple of months or it might become worldwide. Who knows.

1.i like what you say they are big meaningful words but can you fill me in on robert going to collage

2.i think that they might get the whole community in to it but it will be overpowered by the law and stop.

What I mean about Robert going to college, is that his college won't even know about The Wave, if The Wave is the only thing that he has a reputation on, he'll lose his reputation and not know how to get on.

2) Very disturbing indeed. Everyone has to follow orders, no freedom. They all have to follow what he does, so I agree with you about communism.
3) I agree with Kassidy where she said it might be a couple of months, or worldwide. So many things could happen. I think that it will end soon because Mr. Ross is thinking it's getting out of hand, so he can just end it.
