Test Response

I thought the story was very interesting. I thought that the fat man was a madman. I think that he kills the people after throwing them out. You could say no, but then I think he would push you and say "why don't you want your lisence?" and if you say you were bothered by the hypnosis, he'll say "It was just hypnosis son, nothing really happened." Then you'll pay him ten dollars and end up where everyone else does. Either that or he's just crazy and tries to stop people getting their lisences do to his insanity. After all, who would suspect a driving teacher to be a crazy killer/idiot?

1. As he blacked out he thought he could see the sleeping girl's face on the uniformed man's. This sentence stood out for me because it raised some questions for me. Why would he see the girl's face on the uniformed man's instead of the girl's father? Or maybe the driver of the convertible? Could it be that that spectacle actually happened? If so, it could be that the uniformed man was related to the girl. And if that's true, then maybe the whole driving test was a scam to get back at Robert Proctor. Or maybe Robert actually experienced the accident and was about to go through some unfair test like that and someone hypnotised him to experience how crafty the people he was about to meet were. Or it could also be that Robert Proctor is dangerous and has seen or experienced things that could make him dangerous and the government is trying to erase his memory and put an artificial memory. This sentence raised these ideas and many more.

2. I think this was a very innapropriate way to act on behalf of the government. It could seriously damage someone's brain, experiencing a shock like that, they could start going crazy, fall into a coma, or start losing their memories. And that's just the beginning. If the government starts operating like that, no one's going to drive. Ever. Because if you say no, that's that. You don't have a license, you can't drive. If you say "Yes, I want my license" they'll throw you out like the trash they are. If the government doesn't want people on the road, they should just say so instead of telling people that they got their license then tricking them by all of a sudden saying, 'no you're sick, you can't have your license'.

3. I think it basically meant that the government has lost all of it's trustworthiness, and who knows what it's doing now. It could be possible that in this (hopefully) far off future that the government has become an oligarchy, or even a dictatorship, with the cover of a democracy. For example, they could say that everyone has a vote in the government, but in truth, if you vote for the party opposing the dictator you get killed. If someone opposes them, maybe they put them through a terrible hypnosis like that so that they learn what happens if they oppose the government.
