Lord of the Flies Post #12

Rescue

It's been a couple of days since I was killed. The idea of
weightlessness was kind of scary and it was difficult to balance at
first, but after I got over that, floating around was pretty easy.
Although, it took me a while to figure out I was dead. I remember
calling to Ralph when I saw him talking to Piggy wondering why he
didn't answer. But then he said something about me being murdered.
When I finally came to terms with being dead, I followed Ralph around,
wherever he went. So yes, I was there when they killed Piggy and when
they started hunting Ralph. Piggy was very disappointed when he
learned he was dead, and especially so when he found out he had been killed in such a diddled way, but I was glad to have some company, that is, some company that knew I was there. And also I saw the beginning of the man-hunt that took place before they were rescued. I saw Roger
take the stick and sharpen it at both ends. He said "Like a pig" and
all started laughing. I wished there was something I could do about
it, as I had done so little while I was alive on the island, but Piggy
was worried far more than me. He almost had an asthma attack before he remembered he was dead. I wanted to call to Ralph so badly, to tell him what to do to escape the hunters. First he hid in a thicket, but it was crushed by another rock they sent tumbling down the mountainside. He quickly found another thicket to hide in, but they started burning it. Then he was back to running and had to think of a new idea. He figured it out pretty quickly, and did what I would have done: hide and wait for them to pass. Unfortunately, they found him and he had to attack the savage that found him so that he wouldn't die. He was more than a match for the savage of course, but the savage gave his ululation and they all came to assist the little savage. By now, Ralph was exausted and his muscles were distended with blood, but he still ran amazingly fast for fear of his life. At about this point, I noticed how large the fire they had started was getting, as a tree exploded behind Piggy, Ralph and I. Ralph seemed not to notice it and continued to run. He was getting close to the beach now and Piggy and I tried to get a better view of what was going on, as we floated over to the beach, ignoring the annoying littlun following us, telling us to wait up. Then it hit me. A littlun. Floating around as we had been doing. Seeing us as plain as day. The littlun was dead. And we realized that two other littluns were floating upward from the forest too. By now, Ralph was almost to the beach, along with the fire, and boys, littluns and biguns alike were popping up like weeds. Piggy had not shown as much interest in this as I had and had already been to the beach and back without me noticing. He seemed very desperate to get my attention, and he did get my attention when he told me what he had seen. It was no joke. A navy ship was docked on the island. Ralph had reached the beach by now and had collapsed next to the navy officer investigating the island, who looked very important, cordons of epaulettes and badges lined his jacket. Some of the savages were right behind him, I saw Jack among them, and more were coming out of the fire that used to be a forest. Ralph was lucky that the officer had been standing there or he would have been impaled worse than I had when I was killed. When they saw the officer, the fact they were still little kids rose out of all of them and they began to cry, where the officer agreed to pick them up and take them home. They searched the beaches for boys after that and it took a while I can tell you, but they ended rounding up every single boy. Piggy wanted to go back home to see his auntie and England again and so did every other boy that was dead, but I had developed a bond, a relationship with this island and I decided to stay here. I would not be lonely, I would have the trees and the animals with me and I would see life start anew as new trees grew and the pigs reproduced. Yes, I would miss the company of other people, but I would learn to deal with it as this island is no longer perverted with the stench of death, of misery, or even of the Lord of the Flies, as his stick has become firewood, his skull burnt away. No longer will anything on this island be perverted by evil or the beast or savagery. Now, this island is a thing of peace, no longer inhabited by little boys who could not resist the soothing crooning of the beast that sang in their heads, no longer threatened by fire, or hunting or human. And I would watch over this new island that will grow from the ashes of the old one. I'm talking, of course, about the one that was ruined by, The Lord of the Flies.

Nice Job!

I like how you followed Ralph while he was being hunted, because it is a different point of view all-together. I also like that you don't just focus on what we read, but also what happens after they leave (Piggy visits his auntie, and you stay on the island). You kind of confused me with the part where the 2 littluns come out of the forest as ghosts, but other wise it was a great final post!!!!
